Ameer Jackson is headed back to Qatar to play for Al Khor

Ameer Jackson has signed a one year deal to head back to Qatar to play for Al Khor.

Jackson garnered interest from clubs in Luxembourg, Romania, Belarus, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Multiple clubs in Qatar showed interest in his services.

It has been over a year since Jackson last played professionally due to a torn ACL. He has been in the gym working to get back to the court. “I have to thank my trainer Ray Moye, who helped me with my body, and Teven Jones, who is a professional basketball player, he helped me on the court. I can’t thank those guys enough,” Jackson said.

His return to Qatar won’t be easy. Al Khor hasn’t done well the past few years, something that Jackson hopes to change. “I am going to bring more experience since I’ve been there already, and I know what it takes to win. I know that it’s going to take the whole forty minutes, and I need to stay locked in. Teams know I can score, but I can do a lot of things. I want to come back and win a cup,” Jackson said about this upcoming season.

Jackson was the number one scorer in Qatar during the 2018-19 season, with 24.3 points per game. The 6-foot-4 point guard wants to be known for more than just his scoring, but his will to win. According to Jackson, a winning season for Al Khor is one of his primary goals.

Al Khor are exploring their options to bring another import in to take the pressure off Jackson. He draws double teams and having another scorer on the team will open things on the floor.

The season starts in October, and Jackson plans to head overseas at the end of the month. He has been in the gym, staying ready for his comeback season.
