Sky’s the Limit for 2022 Enoch Boakye

By: Tom Ballato

Enoch Boakye is a sophomore at George Harris Prep in Ontario, Canada, and is already becoming a household name among college programs. The 16-year-old, 6’10” center, Boakye is already a five star prospect and the #1 recruit in all of Canada and is ranked in the top 40 overall in the 2022 class.

While he started playing basketball at a young age, he didn’t take is seriously right away. “I started playing in fifth grade. It wasn’t serious at the time, but I started taking it seriously in seventh grade. My biggest supporters are my parents, and especially my coach, coach George. He had faith in me even when I wasn’t the greatest player.” Now Boakye is an explosive big man, that can dribble, and he has a great touch around the rim. He’s got a great post-game and can face up a defender while getting to the rim.

College coaches have started to take notice of his talents. Boakye has received offers from Michigan State, UCLA, Arizona, Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M, Western Kentucky, Denver University, University of Houston, and Brigham Young University. Duke and Kentucky have also shown interest in his talents. Enoch has visited two colleges already, in University of Houston and Michigan State University.

Boakye represented Team Canada in the 2019 FIBA U16 Americas Championship in Brazil. While his team finished in second to the United States, representing his country was a huge honor for Enoch. “To represent Canada is an honor because there is only one other way to represent Canada, and that’s war, so I’m fortunate to be on the other end.” The U16 for Canada was an amazing experience for Boakye.

Boakye wants to stay consistent on the court at George Harris Prep this season in terms of his production. “This is the only year where I have been able to start on a prep team, and I’m seen as one of the top guys. As a team, our goals are for everyone on our team, is to secure an offer and win nationals in the Grind Session.”
